Nokia 7710: 4.0.1 firmware vs. 4.10.0 firmware upgrade

Comparison of differences between old and new manuals, 7 February 2006

Recently, updated firmware for the Nokia 7710 smartphone was released - version 4.10.0. As I couldn't find an official guide to the new features of the 4.10.0 firmware and their use in practice, apart from the changelog listed on the My-Symbian forum for the Series 90, I decided to compare the user guide/manual before and after the new firmware.

I've written a review of the 4.10.0 upgrade. Also, below are the key changes in the manual (text differences only, the software I tried didn't compare pics) - they are best assessed when viewed in conjunction with a copy of the full new manual as the comparison is line by line rather than more intelligently by text content. I've also not included minor changes like "device" to "smartphone". Also, some of the changes appear to be corrections or additions of items which should have been in the original manual, but weren't. For length reasons I've just made a judgement call as to which bits to include below (including a silly one like "screw up" just for light relief!), and apologies if I've missed anything major out - I don't think I have but I pulled them out manually so mistakes are possible.

[Updated 25 March 2006:] The table below is only an extract - you can view or download the full comparison table but it's 3 MB.
