Nokia BL-5C battery product recall - overheating
About 100 incidents of over-heating while charging the battery (with "no serious injuries or property damage") have been reported in relation to Nokia-branded BL-5C batteries made by Matsushita Battery Industrial Co. Ltd. of Japan between December 2005 and November 2006.
100 so far doesn't seem too bad considering 46 million of those batteries were made, but the "serious" gave me pause for a second!
It seems the batteries could have been used with the following mobile phones /cellphones including the popular E60:

Opera 9.23: security upgrade
If you use the lightning quick Opera browser, best download version 9.23 which includes a vital security update fixing a critical Javascript vulnerability plus some other Javascript issue fixes and other upgrades.
(No, I don't mean "opera" in the other sense!)

Norton Antivirus, Internet Security, System Works: danger, update NOW!
If you have any of these editions:
- Norton AntiVirus 2006
- Norton Internet Security 2006
- Norton Internet Security - Anti Spyware Edition 2005 or
- Norton System Works 2006
Otherwise, if you just visit certain websites which have crafted their webpages to exploit recently-discovered critical vulnerabilities in that software, an attacker could infect your computer with malware and even take control of your computer.
It's ironic that products designed to enhance computer security and internet security could themselves create a security risk enabling bad guys to stuff your computer with viruses etc.
According to Symantec no one had been infected yet at the time they announced the issue, and other Symantec products seem to be OK, but better to be safe than sorry.
(Via my fave security news site Heise Security, which also suggested that this only affected Windows PCs but I've not seen that confirmation elsewhere so personally I'd update even with a Mac or Linux.)
